BONITO Turns 3 And Showcases A Tempting Thursday Aperitivo.

If you needed another reason to visit Bonito, Mauri restaurant’s Puglian-inspired seafood bar in Umulas, then the Thursday aperitivo deal has to be it. While Bonito might be small in size, the flavours are spot on.

Umalas’ favourite BONITO just turned three, and they’ve marked the milestone with a menu refresh and some weekly specials worth checking out. While seafood is still very much their thing, the kitchen has opened up to more land-based flavours—think quality cuts of meat, handmade pasta, and some solid vegetarian options too.

Chef Maurizio Bombini has added several new dishes that feel right at home on the menu. There’s a creamy burrata with capocollo and dried tomatoes, pillowy potato gnocchi with beef ragù, and beautifully simple spaghetti with cherry tomatoes, basil, and pecorino. For something grilled, the chicken yakitori hits that sweet spot with a soy and ginger glaze. It’s Italian-driven but playful and unpretentious.

The vibe at BONITO hasn’t changed—it’s still casual yet refined, with that signature long counter bar where you can watch the team in action, plus a breezy terrace made with recycled eco tiles. But the way they’ve built out their weekly events makes it more tempting than ever to pop in.

Lunch is a quick three-course set for IDR 195,000++, perfect for a midweek catch-up. Tuesdays come with a free dessert (no strings), while Thursdays are for BoniBacio Nights—think unlimited Lombok oysters, handmade pasta, and fritto misto, with a drink included, all for IDR 280,000++. The daily aperitivo hour runs from 4 to 6 PM, offering drinks at 80K++ with complimentary bites, and if you’re out on Saturday, they’ll throw in a third drink when you buy two.

For Chef Maurizio, this new direction is all about staying true to BONITO’s roots while evolving with the crowd. “We’re still all about seafood,” he says, “but we wanted to create a space that feels open to everyone. It’s exciting to see where it goes next.
