Not all vegan restaurants are created equal and the motivation behind them is what defines them; Whether it’s health and nutrition, sustainability or a love of animals, the following restaurants are on a plant-based mission, not a plant-based trend. The Avocado Factory in Canggu moves as much as 100 kgs of avocados in a single day. The two-story streetside cafe has a menu that offers avocado dishes in incredibly innovative ways including all the classics, and then some – truffled eggs benedict, avo pancakes dripping with berry sauce, smoked salmon, rocket and avocado piadina topped with poached eggs, and even a creamy avocado basque cheesecake that is seriously delicious.
The menu is built around seafood and steaks with a good selection of pasta and pizza, salads and small bites. Having a crew helps, as it means we order a variety of dishes and share them. The menu offers lots of variety with something to please everyone.

Dining at ZALI is not simply about savouring the flavours, the restaurant offers an eating experience that deeply connects you to the foods and people you are eating with. Feasting on Mezze is reminiscent of every Lebanese childhood, with foods traditionally enjoyed with family or friends. The word “Mezze” derives from the Arabic term t’mazza, which translates as “savour in little bites.” which involves sampling simple and fresh bites. Eating Mezze is often served al fresco in hot weather, so Bali is a perfect place to adopt this custom.
The launch of Bali’s own Nusantara Cold Brew created by the craft alcohol company, Spice Island Distilling Co has transformed our favorite cocktail and given it a unique local flavour. Made with the finest beans sourced from the Spice Islands, this distinctively crafted coffee liqueur delivers a rich coffee flavour with less sugar than most commercial brands. The result is a liqueur that is as intriguing and mysterious as the islands that inspired it.
Aperitif Bali, located within the Viceroy Hotel in Ubud, has gotten us exploring the world through plates with their eclectic degustation dinner. Belgian Executive Chef, Nic Vanderberkeen, concocted this prestigious experience inspired by the Spice Islands with a modern European culinary approach. Dining in this elegant dining room is always highly anticipated and today is no exception.
